Brookfield Multiplex has won its second contract – worth $70 million – at Gina Rinehart’s Roy Hill iron ore project worth.

The job awarded to the company’s engineering and infrastructure division to develop buildings and facilities to service the mine depends on Roy Hill Holdings securing debt finance for the $10 billion project.

The work comes on top of Brookfield Multiplex’s $190 million contract to build the accommodation village at Roy Hill.

The division will design and build by December 2014 non-process infrastructure including administration buildings, vehicle workshops and washdown facility.

“Brookfield Multiplex was selected for the NPI contract following an open tender process, which shows that we have the ability to remain competitive on smaller projects, as well as larger, master planned developments like the accommodation component of Roy Hill,” Brookfield Multiplex WA regional managing director Chris Palandri said.

“The quality of work we have completed in the accommodation village boosted our credentials for the NPI contract, and we are thrilled to now be working on multiple components of the Roy Hill project,” Mr Palandri said.

Brookfield Multiplex said the first tranche of permanent dwellings at the accommodation village was now being built, with work also soon to start on purpose-built recreational facilities like tennis courts and a gymnasium.

It said the village was expected to be completed by late this year.
